The Sydney Ice Dogs will face the CBR Brave this weekend for the first time this season in back to back games.
On Saturday the Dogs will welcome Silver Medal Olympian and pro baseball player Rod Van Buizen to the team to participate in the ceremonial puck drop. Rod was also a part of the 2004 Athens Olympic team and the LA Dodgers organisation.
The games are the first two of the four meetings the teams will have during the regular season. Saturday’s game will be played at home at Macquarie Ice Rink then on Sunday the Dogs will travel to Canberra to face the Brave.
The Ice Dogs topped the North Stars in their last game, scoring four unanswered goals to complete a 4-2 comeback win. Rory Rawlyk recorded his first AIHL hat trick and Damien Ketlo continued his brilliant play stopping 48 of the 50 shots he faced.
The Brave also won their last game, defeating the North Stars 4-3 on May 13th.
The last time the two teams met, Sydney defeated the Brave in a thrilling game by a score of 6-4.
Following the May 27th and May 28th contests, the Ice Dogs and Brave will play against each other on the following dates: Aug. 5th and Aug. 20th.
