The Reach Crane Trucks Sydney Ice Dogs are delighted to announce their first Import for the 2016 Season, with British National Player Paul Swindlehurst set to join the squad. Swindlehurst has been playing in the British Elite League for the past three seasons, and is a 6ft 3 defenseman who can provide a solid backbone for the Ice Dogs blue-line in the coming AIHL season. Swindlehurst has had a vast amount of experience, having been invited to the Chicago Blackhawks Prospects camp in 2014, where he played in exhibition games with their AHL affiliate the Rockford Ice Hogs. In 2013/2014, Swindlehurst was awarded the Vic Batchelder award for the Young British Player of the Year. General Manager Jason Juba believes that Swindlehurst will be an important asset for the Ice Dogs this season. Juba said “The Ice Dogs are very excited to announce the signing of Paul Swindlehurst. He’s smart, hockey sense guy who can help us in all areas including the Power play and penalty killing units. Defensively, his positioning is really good and he makes that good first pass and gets the puck up to the forwards quickly. His ability to read the play will make him a great addition to our power play unit as well”. Keep up with all the breaking news on your Sydney Ice Dogs over the coming days, with further key announcements to be made. |
