Andrew White back to bolster the Dogs Defence. The Reach Crane Trucks Sydney Ice Dogs are delighted to announce the return of former Captain Andrew White for the 2016 Season. White returns to club where he made 191 of his 217 appearances. White spent the 2015 season with Adelaide Adrenaline. Coach Vlad Rubes was understandably pleased to add another major piece to the lineup. Rubes stated “Andrew completes the core group of returning Ice Dogs (Scott Stephenson, Todd Stephenson, Dave Dunwoodie and Tomas Manco) that are back in the line-up. As a ten-year National team defenceman, he’s always in game shape, and is a great team player who possesses the skill to support our teams offense and special teams. I’m extremely excited having him back and I’m confident that he will be a backbone of our defence” GM Jason Juba who played with White on the Ice Dogs 2004 championship team said “I am very happy Andrew decided to come back to the Ice Dogs”. When asked about convincing White to return Juba laughed, adding “Originally he was tentative because of the year the team had last year and his other commitments, but we kept harassing him on a daily and weekly basis and he finally broke. He really was the missing piece we needed as he’s as tough and solid of a defenseman as you’ll find in the AIHL, and a great guy to have around the team”. White was pleased to be returning to the club that has been such a key part of his career “It’s really is great to be back playing for the Ice Dogs again. This really is home for me and I am glad I can finish up my career with the club”. Of his time in Adelaide, he was full of praise for the club and supporters “I also really want to say a special thanks to the Adelaide organisation for the opportunity to play with them last season and wish them all the best for 2016” |
