Ice Dogs Weekend Preview
Thursday, May 11, 2017 - Submitted by Juno Tsalis

The Sydney Ice Dogs will take on the Adelaide Adrenaline again on Saturday and defending champions, the Newcastle North Stars the following night in a sure to be action packed weekend.

The Ice Dogs have won two of their four games this season, playing the Adrenaline in Adelaide last weekend in back to back games.  Sydney took the three points with a 4-2 win on Saturday but unfortunately fell to the team on Sunday night by a score of 5-2.

The Adrenaline are placed 6th in the league with six points in five games. Saturday’s game will mark the third time the two teams have met, with their final meeting on the 16th of July at Macquarie Ice Rink.

On Sunday the Sydney Ice Dogs take on the Newcastle North Stars. Both sides have had strong results this season and will be fighting for the victory. Newcastle is placed 4th in the league with a total of seven points over six games. The Dogs have six points over four games. Following the May 14th contest, the Ice Dogs and North Stars will play against each other on the following dates: May. 21, Jun. 17, Aug. 26.

Saturday’s game will mark the first time newly signed Canadian import Rory Rawlyk will be playing at home. The Dogs have a good pace and a win over the two teams is crucial in the pursuit for a playoff spot.
