The Sydney Ice Dogs fell the the CBR Brave 6-1 on Sunday night to conclude the series between the two teams. The home team were without key players including Shannon McGregor and Andrew White and were coming off a 4-1 loss to the Melbourne Ice the previous night. The Brave opened up scoring at Macquarie Ice Rink, when Stephen Blunden tipped the puck into Ketlo’s net with 2:38 remaining in the period. With less than a second left in the period Grant Toulmin beat the buzzer to tie the game at one a piece. Toulmin’s goal was assisted by Stephen Johnston and Todd Stephenson. Canberra scored four goals in the second period, including two on the power play. The first of which came six minutes into the period and again on the power play with just over six minutes remaining. Of the four power play opportunities awarded, the Brave were able to capitalise on three of them.
The Ice Dogs will take on the Newcastle Northstars and Melbourne Mustangs next weekend to wrap up the regular season. You can purchase tickets to Sunday’s game here: www.icedogsshop.com.au |
