The Sydney Ice Dogs are excited to announce the return of Strat Allen for the upcoming 2018 AIHL season.
The Toronto, Ontario native has collected 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points in 58 games over the span of three seasons with the Ice Dogs. Allen led the team in goals scored and points amassed at the end of both the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The forward struggled with injuries throughout the 2017 season, beginning with a nagging knee injury. Halfway through the 2017 season the 6’6”, 98 kg player broke his hand in a home win against the Melbourne Ice. Despite this, the 30 year old played through the pain for the remaining 9 games of the season, notching an impressive 7 points during this time. In 19 regular season games in 2017 Allen collected 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists).
The skater is looking forward to getting back onto the ice and has confidence that the new team will be able to push for the playoffs. "It's been a long journey with the Dogs the past three seasons but each year we've built on the last. “We were close last year but ultimately didn't get the job done making the playoffs. This season with the addition of Frij, our core Aussies and key import signings we feel we have the right group to make a run."
