The Sydney Ice Dogs are proud to announce the signing of 26-year-old Canadian goaltender Damien Ketlo.
The 6ft tall goaltender comes with an impressive Junior hockey career which started in the BCHL with the Prince George Spruce Kings and was followed by a 4 year stint (160 games) in the WHL Major Junior League. Ketlo spent most of his WHL career with the Regina Pats before finishing with the Lethbridge Hurricanes where he played 47 games registering a 0.902 save percentage and 3.60 GAA taking team MVP honours for his team.
Before heading to play CIS with the University of Lethbridge, Ketlo was called up to the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL where he posted a shutout and finished with a 2.60 GAA and 0.930 save perecntage.
Damien comes fresh off his fourth and final year with the Pronghorns (CIS) and the Ice Dogs can’t wait for him to get between the Pipes.
“Whenever you can add a goaltender of Damien’s calibre to your team, they give you a chance to win every night” says GM Jason Juba.
Damien Ketlo will fit right into the AIHL playing with the Ice Dogs. The season begins April 22nd against the Sydney Bears at Macquarie Ice Rink.
