The Sydney Ice Dogs are set to face the Perth Thunder for the first time this season.
The home opener will mark the first of four meetings between the teams as well as the first time they face each other at Macquarie Ice Rink.
The Dogs defeated the Bears last Saturday in an action packed game by a score of 1-0. Newly signed Canadian forward Stephen Johnston scored the only goal of the game and goaltender Damien Ketlo stood tall, blocking all 19 shots he faced.
The Perth Thunder also won, beating the Northstars by a score of 2-3.
The last time the two teams met, Sydney fell to Perth by a score of 6-2 in a physical and fast paced game. The Dogs have won 8 of the 17 games against the Thunder dating back to June 30th 2012 and are looking to add another win to the records.
Following the April 29th contest, the Ice Dogs and Thunder will play against each other on the following dates: Jun. 24, Jun. 25, Jul. 1.
