ICE DOGS DUFOUR THE WIN

ICE DOGS DUFOUR THE WIN

Ice Dogs Marketing

Head Coach Jason Kvisle has appointed Canadian Jimmy Dufour as the associate coach of the Sydney Ice Dogs.  The coaching tandem of Kvisle and Dufour have coached together for over a decade.

“We respect each other but know how to push each other and in turn we manage a bench both on and off the ice with poise and conviction. Over the years we have developed relationships with all of our players, most of whom still stay in touch with us, this just shows the character of Jimmy and the impact he has had on their lives” says Kvisle.

Together they have won three gold medals, three silver and a bronze over seven Tange Tournaments for NSW (National Under 18s State Tournament) and four Australian Junior Ice Hockey League (AJIHL) titles over nine seasons with the Sydney Sabres.

“I’ve coached against Jason and Jimmy at the AJIHL level, and not only do they have great chemistry, but they were a handful to coach against at the Junior level and I see them bringing that to the Sydney Ice Dogs” adds former General Manager and Former Captain Scott Stephenson. “Jimmy has been a great resource for the club in the past when we have discussed prospects coming through and today we get the added benefit of his coaching abilities too”.

Jimmy hails from Weyburn Saskatchewan and played junior hockey in Winnipeg Manitoba, before travelling to Australia at the time of the 2000 Olympics where he fell in love with the country.  Jimmy went back to Canada to complete his degree before coming back to Australia and calling it home where he decided to give back to the game and start coaching in 2010.

“I’m excited to join the Ice Dogs this year and join Jason in pursuing another National Championship, but this time at the most elite competition in Australia. My goal for the 2023 season is to help continue the strong traditions of our club, push our players to be their best, and focus on fast paced but disciplined approach to each and every game we play” comments Dufour.

Kvisle and Dufour will be getting to work very soon with Tryouts to be announced around the corner.

Stay Tuned. More exciting news for the 2023 season to come.
