Dogs looking to get back on track in Adelaide

Nicholas Kabiotis

The Sydney Ice Dogs are gearing up for their match against the Adelaide Adrenaline today, looking to get back on track after a couple of tough losses at home last week.

The Ice Dogs have not played in Adelaide since before the pandemic, making this a particularly important matchup. The Adrenaline are currently sitting in fourth place on the ladder, making them a formidable opponent, but the Ice Dogs will be determined to secure a win and climb the ranks themselves.

Last week saw the season debut of the Ice Dogs' veteran players and team leaders, Daniel Pataky (C), Cameron Todd (A), and Shannon McGregor (A), who were away from the team represent Australia.

In their previous two games, the Ice Dogs suffered losses to the Sydney Bears and Melbourne Ice. Against the Bears, the Ice Dogs put up a good fight but ultimately fell 6-2. They showed some great offensive skill, with goals from Jeremy Vasquez and Cameron Todd, but were unable to hold off the Bears in the third period.

Their game against the Melbourne Ice was also a tough matchup, with the Ice Dogs falling 5-3. Despite goals from Dmitri Kuleshov, Cameron Todd, and Marcus Hosen, the Ice Dogs were unable to overcome the strong performance from the Ice.

However, the Ice Dogs will be looking to put those losses behind them and come out strong against the Adrenaline. Head coach Jason Kvisle is optimistic about the team's chances, stating, "We've had a tough start to the season, but we're not dwelling on those losses. We're focusing on the game ahead and using this away game as an opportunity to get back on track. We know that the Adrenaline are a strong team, but we're confident in our abilities and we're ready to give it our all."
