Matt Clark Shield raises $11,170

The Sydney Ice Dogs may have fallen 6-3 to the league leading CBR Brave Saturday night, but managed to beat last year's Matt Clark Shield fundraising record, raising $11,170.

Washington Capitals Australian forward Nathan Walker was in the house signing autographs for fans in front of a big crowd at Macquarie Ice Rink.

Geordie Wudrick got the Ice Dogs rolling 30 seconds into the game against his former team with a long range shot from the red line surprising netminder Matt Hewitt.

CBR Import Chris Leveille responded with a natural hat trick starting from two powerplays in the first period and early in the second to give CBR a dominant 3-1 lead.

Ice Dogs Import Grant Toulmin responded a minute later on the PP to bring the Ice Dogs within one goal.  CBR however ran away with the game adding another two goals, Leveille adding his fourth of the game to leave the second period 5-2.

CBR didn't stop there extending the lead to 6-2 at the beginning of the third before Wudrick halved the lead to 6-3 saving face for the Ice Dogs who didn't seem to have an answer for the CBR Brave Powerplay led by Chris Leveille on what was otherwise a special night for the Sydney Ice Dogs.
